Daniel is new in town, and is getting picked on by the local bullies, who all are adept in karate. Determined to stick up for himself, Daniel begins to teach himself karate, only to discover that the caretaker at his apartment seems to be a grand master in karate. Agreeing to teach Daniel, Mr. Miyagi shows Daniel that there is more to karate than violence, and perhaps the best way to solve the problem he has with the bullies is in the All Valley Karate Championship.

This drama centers on Hank Chinaski, the fictional alter-ego of “Factotum” author Charles Bukowski, who wanders around Los Angeles, CA trying to live off jobs which don’t interfere with his primary interest, which is writing. When he discovers that “It” has come back, he reunites what’s left of The Lucky Seven, now in their middle ages to do battle once again, and “It” is ready. The Lucky Seven must now defeat “It” and cure Derry of “The Derry Disease”.

But a conventional approach to commitment - marriage and the seemingly inevitable divorce that follows, as evidenced by Leila’s parents — is not the answer. They set out to find a way to build lust and love, spontaneity and substance, into a new life together.

Cloverfield follows five New Yorkers from the perspective of a hand-held video camera. The movie is exactly the length of a DV Tape and a sub-plot is established by showing bits and pieces of video previously recorded on the tape that is being recorded over. The movie starts as a monster of unknown origin destroys a building. As they go to investigate, parts of the building and the head of the Statue of Liberty come raining down. The movie follows their adventure trying to escape and save a friend, a love interest of the main character.

The legendary high jacker is actually Dan Cooper. DB Cooper is the name of the man arrested shortly after the real high jacker jumped from the plane but was quickly cleared by the authorities. Unfortunately, the newspapers picked up DB Cooper’s name instead of Dan Cooper and the name stuck.
